EP3 | Life, work and 100 rejections. Discussing imposter syndrome and freelance theatre work (with Grace Currie)

Hello and welcome to The Importance of Staying Earnest. The podcast where we sit down with creatives to discuss the ins and outs of making a career in the arts.

Todays episode is a discussion with Grace Currie, a freelance director and stage manager. She's here to offer insights into how she got her first job and what it's like to get yourself into the jobs you really want with nothing but the sweat on your brow and twitter.

Grace brings up what freelancing is like, how she's found the whole Covid thing and how many rejections she intends to have by the end of the year. Yes, rejections...

We also discuss the curse that plagues many (if not all) creatives, imposter syndrome. The three of us break down our experiences and ways in which we tackle them and see them across each other and our friends.

So grab a tea or something stronger and come along as we try to find some direction in our lives...

About the Podcast

The Importance of Staying Earnest
The trenches of navigating the creative industries
We're both trying to make our way into creative careers, and we've often discussed with each other what we're going through and how we're doing. As such, we also have a bunch of friends going through the same things. So we're sitting down with a bunch of them. Directors, actors, producers, musicians; all of which are trying to fight their way to doing what they love as a career. We know it's not all sunshine and rainbows and we think it's worth talking about (not to mention there is the occasional piece of sunshine and/or rainbow that's worth celebrating!). So grab a tea (or something stronger) and come along for the ride!
